Where Characters Come To Life

I'm kind of at a stand still, or mental block, about how to start this blog post. I don't know if I should just jump on in to today, or talk a little bit about life in Orlando for me lately...harumph. Well, I joined a gym :) on my way to being fit one day at a time. Eating mostly healthy (cut me some slack, I do work at Disney) and I'm starting to adjust better than I was. Some of my best friends have listened to my homesick whining, but I think I'm getting past that "take me home" stage. Hopefully.

So anyway, since we last saw each other when I met Baymax and Sorcerer Mickey, I have added to my list of characters! Today I got to meet my favorite princess, Ariel (I'm not posting the picture of me and her here tho because I'm fat and when I lose weight I'll meet her again and take a mermaid worthy photo...); I met Winnie the Pooh & Tigger too; I met Rapunzel, and I met Cinderella. Do you know how much effort it takes to meet just 5 characters? Let me just tell you, it takes a lot. OH I also met someone else, but you'll find out who that is later.

In addition to meeting some characters, I went to the Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor twice, did Stitch's Escape, watched Mickey's Philharmagic twice, saw Enchanted Tales with Belle, did the Little Mermaid ride, and I want to say that that is it. Oh wait, I also went on The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and the Peter Pan flight (AH-MAZING BTW). I also did another thing, but I'll also talk about that later :)

Okay, so can I just totally tell you how starstruck I was meeting Princess Ariel??? Because it was perfect. She is perfect. The sweetest, let me just tell you. I mean, Rapunzel and Cinderella were both amazingly sweet as well, but there is just something about laughing and joking with your favorite princess that just sits right with the world. I was wearing my "If you can't be a unicorn, be a mermaid" shirt, and she loved it! I mean, ugh, I'm still just in awe that I got her signature and pictures with her (but again, I'mma lose weight and re-meet her so I have a good picture).

After meeting Princess Ariel (who was a mermaid again in case you didn't know), I headed over to the 100 Acre Wood to meet my friends Pooh Bear and Tigger. Seriously, I was, once again, in awe. Completely startstuck. I almost cried, but didn't because hey, I'm 22 years old and even the 3 year olds didn't cry. But I'm not gonna lie, it was amazing. Truly. Ugh. I'm just so happy, it's ridiculous. Pooh Bear and Tigger both gave me big huge hugs and kisses and I just love them. Their character attendant was funny too--Tigger and Pooh bear both read my shirt, and the character attendant said, "It should say 'If you can't be a Tigger, be a Pooh'" and I seriously agreed. So if anyone wants to make me that shirt, do it :)

After meeting the amazing Pooh bear and Tigger, I did some other things like ride rides or see shows which I've previously mentioned, and then I went and met Princess Rapunzel, and Princess Cinderella. They were both just darling, too. Cinderella also noticed my shirt and asked how my land legs were treating me, I told her they give me trouble sometimes, and she told me that her friend Ariel is getting rather good on them :) Princess Rapunzel told me I was super brave for venturing out on my own and if I got up at 7 and did my chores. Of course I did, silly princess. Meeting princesses is just emotionally draining.

But here is the best part: so my cousins Angela and Lance are here vacationing with their kids, and they brought me some stuff I left from home, and we got to talking and they got to telling me about things I definitely need to have on my bucket list for Disney. I've decided that sometime, I will post my bucket list (and be very specific) and mark it off as I go so you can see how close I come to completing it! But they mentioned they were going to "Be Our Guest" at 9:10 and I mentioned that I was jealous because we couldn't get reservations until July 7th. Well guess what? They had a reservation for 6 and there were only 5 of them! So guess who went to "Be Our Guest" tonight? If you said Belle, you'd be wrong...but if you said Shayna then YAY you win! Ugh, it was beautiful. And the service? Amazing. I kept getting called princess and your highness and your majesty and I felt just...queenly. Yes it is a word; there is no red squiggly under it :) The food was DELICIOUS. No I didn't try the grey stuff, but I will do that next time! I had this AMAZING strawberry cheesecake cupcake that was to die for; I also had a delicious steak with some fantasmic sautéd green beans and it was divine. The decor was exquisite, the detail perfect, and guess who I met?

YES THE BEAST. UGH. HE WAS PERFECT. For a beast I mean.

He bowed and kissed my hand and we hugged and took a picture and he kissed my cheek and bowed again and ugh. Can I just be in love with a made-up enchanted prince? Like, Belle, you are one lucky gal. He was precious. And I love him.

The last thing I did tonight was the Peter Pan Flight...it was amazing. I almost cried then too--not because I was sad but because I was just so happy. So. So. So happy.

Well, that's it for this time. Thanks for reading & have a magical day <3

  1. Bad Shayna! No no! You are *NOT* fat! So maybe you think you'd look or feel better if you lost some weight, and I wouldn't ever discourage anyone from trying to live a little healthier, but there's no reason to call yourself (untrue) names. You're a very pretty girl just as you are. I've heard that a camera adds ten pounds, but when pretty girls look in the mirror I swear it adds twenty-five...

  3. Okay, now that I'm done ranting at you :) I'll share a Disney story. The first time Michelle and I took the girls to Disney World Amanda was 18. She was still a little bit in that "I'm too big to do kid stuff" phase. We ended our trip eating at the Crystal Palace (now a traditional last stop at Disney for us) where they have Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet, and Tigger come around to the tables for hugs and pictures. They also have, every half hour or so, all the little kid march around the room in a parade, waving their napkins in the air and snaking through all the tables in a big line. The characters had all been around once and we were finishing up our meal when the music started, and Tigger grabbed Amanda's arm and pulled her up to lead the parade around the room. The look of sheer panic on her face when she realized what was going on and her embarrassed march with all the little kids was the highlight of the trip, at least for Michelle and I!

  5. I'm Sooooo excited for you! I'm so sorry you have been feeling homesick. :( But I'm loving all these pictures and seeing your excitement with the characters. You are living the DREAM Shayna!

I'm SO excited that you got to eat at Be Our Guest!!!! And I'm even more excited that you had delicious food as well! (I had an amazing meal there a few years ago, but then I heard that they were kinda sketchy for a bit) Your face with the beast... I mean, really... Sheer unadulterated JOY!
